Claire Merrick raises £1000 for Macmillan

Claire works for Freeways Trust as a maintenance operative, Claire is renouned as a bubbly character across the Freeways sites, and is a favourite of the people we support bringing her own brand of humour and positivitiy wherever she goes! Not only this Claire has proved an invaluable member of the maintenance team, nothing is too much trouble, always on hand when emergency situation strikes. Having maintenance completed in their home, for some people we support, can be stressful but Claire’s values, attitude and behaviour make it both a safe and a fun experience.

Claire is a compassionate and caring person- when her friend was given the sad news of a cancer diagnosis. Claire set about finding a way to support her. Claire decided to brave the shave for Mcmillan cancer support. Not only did she do this but made it an event that everyone we support in Freeways could get involved with. Arranging a big event at our Day Centre, where the people we support helped cut Claire’s beautiful pink hair off. Claire's efforts have now raised in excess of £1000 for the charity!

On top of this on the day, the Day Centre cooking group put on a coffee morning for Macmillan cancer support, they made numerous cakes and raised a further £175. Thank you to everyone who turned up on the day and everyone who donated to this worthy cause.
