At Freeways we offer a wide variety of training and development opportunities to ensure our staff have the skills and knowledge, confidence and creativity to be the best they can be.
“I enjoy the developmental process, learning new things every day, it’s all new experiences which I love; it’s exciting!” - Jo Brine, Trainee Manager
Our in depth induction programme for support workers is built around the Care Certificate Standards and includes a number of other courses developed by Freeways including Positive Risk Taking and Active Support. New staff learn through a mixture of classroom based training, online courses, in service induction and shadowing and assessment in their roles.
Your induction is carefully planned to ensure you have all the information and support required to excel in your new role and provide a top quality service.
Freeways recognises the value in having qualified and trained staff and therefore we offer specialist training in a wide variety of subject areas including:
The training we provide is always evolving informed by the needs of our service users. We have great links with expert external training providers and many of our own management team are also experienced trainers.
We offer a wide variety of development opportunities – from taking on a ‘champion’ role within your service, to working towards a Diploma qualification, or the opportunity to apply for Team Leader, Assistant Manager or Trainee Manager roles. Many of our managers and senior managers started work with us as Support Workers including our CEO who joined Freeways as a volunteer!
“In September 2015, I joined the senior management team after being a manager of a service for nine years. One of the best bits about my job is that I still have a lot of contact and service user involvement and this keeps my role very real, focused and reminds me why I work for Freeways” – Sharon Prowse, Senior Manager
Managers hold regular supervision sessions with staff which is a great opportunity to focus on individual training and development goals.
